Hello all! Day 2 was packed with amazing adventures. We started off the day with a delicious meal of huevos rancheros made by our talented chefs. We then loaded up the vans with all our surf gear to tackle the gnarly waves of Cerritos. After everyone managed to at least plant both feet on the board (wiping out here and there), we settled in for lunch on the beach. We were served ceviche with shrimp, octopus, and fish. After our stomachs were filled we made our way over to the tide pools where we found various creatures such as crabs, sea urchins, and fish. But our day wasn’t over yet…. After all of that excitement, we made our way back to the casitas where we had some down time before volunteering. We were divided into 3 groups- The Palapas society (Sydney, Olivia, Aimee, Natalie), Hogar del Ninos (Rose, Andrea, Kendall, Kasey, Sally), and a local boarding school for art purposes (Angela and Bella). We all had an amazing time getting to know all of the kids. We were able to practice our Spanish speaking skills as well has help the kids with their English. They were all so friendly, welcoming, and so excited to see us. We can’t wait to go back! We ended the eventful day with an incredible dinner. We had homemade tacos that were probably the best ones we have ever had. We all went back for seconds (sometimes even thirds) simply because of how good they were. Overall, today was a complete success and we look forward to seeing what else this trip has in store!
