We started off our first morning in La Paz eating a delicious buffet breakfast overlooking a harbor. We then took a short drive over to a dock, where we picked out our water gear for the day. After splitting into two groups and climbing on to our boats, we were off!
As we made our way out to the sea lions, our group, led by Silvia, snaked around the various islands in the clear blue water. Our captain, Marco, gave us a ride to remember!
Once we arrived at the island of the sea lions, we pulled on our wetsuits, flippers, and snorkeling masks and jumped in! The sea lions were adorable and surprisingly playful, swimming up to us as we explored the biodiversity of the ocean. After that, we took a short boat ride to a secluded beach, where we enjoyed a picnic lunch, free time, and more crystal clear water.
While we thought we would head back to the hotel after lunch, the guides surprised us with a stop at the mating grounds of endangered sea turtles, where we got another chance to jump in and try to spot some sea turtles. Though the water wasn't quite as clear, we spotted some heads and even tried to follow a few turtles in the water before we headed back.
Back at the hotel, we freshened up before heading to town for a bit more free time. We walked, shopped, and enjoyed some snacks along the promenade. Just before leaving for dinner, we even witnessed firsthand a girl getting asked to a dance (we think)! At least half of us swooned over the boy with his bouquet and sign in hand.

We headed to dinner at Nim, a beautiful restaurant with a chic outdoor seating area, where we each presented our posters of what we'd learned over the week. After the scrumptious dinner of chicken mole, stuffed peppers, and (yet another) band, we gathered in a park to share our favorite memories (tears may have been shed). Our last stop of the night was to Gourmet Churro, where we devoured chocolate, nutella, crema, and carjeta filled churros and sang along to our favorite songs.
All in all, this trip has been absolutely amazing. It's sad to say goodbye, and we owe so much to our awesome guides and chaperones--so thank you Silvia, Citlali, Steph, DCal, and LKlug!!!!! It was so much fun to Jump In Baja!
